Overview

For this research, I selected Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, a luxury hospitality brand that I am very interested to be part of. What makes Four Seasons particularly interesting is its focus on more than simply selling hotel stays. The brand highlights destinations, restaurants, wellness, and unique experiences, helping create an image of the lifestyle and emotions associated with a Four Seasons property.

Visual Storytelling

Visual storytelling is one of the key strategies Four Seasons employs on social media. I believe this is particularly useful during the need recognition stage, as seeing a beautiful destination or experience can make someone start thinking about taking a vacation.

During the information search stage, Four Seasons can provide content about its properties, restaurants, activities, and destinations to help potential guests learn more about the hotel and decide whether it fits what they are looking for.

Electronic Word-of-Mouth

The first article also details the importance of electronic word-of-mouth, as consumers use information from others to reduce the risk and effort associated with a travel decision. This makes reviews, recommendations, and particularly user-generated content useful during the evaluation of alternatives stage.

For a luxury brand such as Four Seasons, seeing real guest experiences can help potential customers better understand what they can expect from the brand.

Creativity Meets Data

The first video got me thinking about the importance of Four Seasons combining creativity with data. Beautiful and inspiring content is crucial for a luxury brand, but it is also essential for a company to set clear marketing goals and use KPIs, market research, experiments, and data analysis to understand what content is affecting its audience.

This may help Four Seasons experiment with different types of content and fine-tune its social media approach according to customers' reactions.

From Inspiration to Booking

I believe Four Seasons can make its social media even more effective during the purchase decision stage by connecting inspirational content to experiences, packages, or opportunities to book.

Social media can also continue to have an impact during the post-purchase stage by encouraging guests to share their experiences and interact with the brand. This allows social media to become part of the relationship between the guest and the hotel even after the stay.

The Luxury Guest Experience

The customer satisfaction article also resonates with Four Seasons because emotions are an important part of the luxury hotel experience. The article explains that luxury hotel guests particularly value emotions such as feeling cared for, relaxed, and sophisticated.

As far as I am concerned, Four Seasons does a good job of selling not just a hotel stay, but also the feeling of having an experience that is tailored specifically to each guest and is memorable.

Key Takeaway

I think the use of social media in hospitality businesses can be more strategic across the entire buying process. Many hotels concentrate on the beauty of their properties, but they could do more to show what guests can expect, offer useful information, use data to fine-tune their strategies, and build relationships with guests after their stay.
